Florida Criminal Law Specialist

This just arrived, and I have to say it gives me a great deal of satisfaction: this is the third cycle of continuous certification as a specialist in criminal law since 2002.

This came the other day, along with my letter notifying me that I had successfully re-certified, and this is one of the most rewarding achievements of my career.

Some criminal defense lawyers may sweat their online reivews, others may want to be a "SuperLawyer," but those in the know look for the initials "BCS" or the logo for the expert designation. From DUI to Domestic Violence, Theft to Trespass, whatever the crime charged, when it comes to prosecution and defense of criminal cases, a lawyer is either Board Certified or not.

This is the capstone of a lawyer's career, the review that counts.

Many "recognition" marks are just marketing spam, to put it bluntly. To become Board Certified, you have been tested in the toughest arena: among your peers, in battle.

All lawyers should aspire to become Board Certified. Certification should be the rule, not the exception.

Yet less than 0.5% of Florida lawyer are certified in criminal law.
